Hiking & mountain biking during your Val Pusteria summer holiday

Picture perfect panoramas

Paradise doesn’t always have to be on tropical islands.
During your summer holiday in Val Pusteria, it often awaits right outside the door or in the surrounding area.
In the mountains, whispering their stories in the summer sunlight. In the forests, breathing life and giving us fresh energy. Up on the alpine meadows, where wildflowers and herbs scent the air. By turquoise mountain lakes that touch our hearts. Green spaces for relaxation. And as far as the eye can see – nature in its purest and most beautiful form …

So Carmen, what’s your favourite hiking tour?

“One hiking tour? I just can’t choose – after all, they say good things come in threes! The hikes to Sambock, Monte Covoni, and Schönberg are simply unbeatable. Three peaks that offer stunning views, peace and quiet, and a manageable climb. Along the way, there are places to stop, like Plattner Alm (Sambock), Tesselberger Alm (Monte Covoni), or Schönberg Alm (Schönberg). But as a true summit enthusiast, I always bring my own snack: a homemade sandwich with South Tyrolean speck or cheese tastes like a gourmet meal up on the peaks. And of course, nature lovers take their rubbish with them – we want to be climbing mountains tomorrow, not landfill hills.”

So Anna, what’s your favourite day out?

“As an artist at heart, I especially love wandering around Plan de Corones and taking a detour to LUMEN, the new mountain photography museum. The photo exhibitions there are so impressive that even museum sceptics are left amazed. My absolute highlight: the mirror room – a real “wow” moment! And if you still haven’t had enough of the views, treat yourself to an Aperol Spritz at the Corones hut, with delicious food and a first-class panorama. The best part? With the Kronplatz Card you get from us, museum entry is included. Raise a glass to art!”

So Agnes, what’s your favourite bike tour?

“I can’t pick just one favourite bike tour, because the choice here is just too good. But if I have enough time, I love cycling over Speikboden to the Weizgruberalm. There, host Helga serves up the most delicious alpine dishes – I simply can’t resist. At the same time, you get a stunning view of the Dolomites and the main Alpine divide. And while enjoying my meal, I can plan which of the many trails to take for the descent. Want some insider tips? Let me know – I’d be happy to share!”
